Businessman Tymophiy Nagorny was supposed to create a political party to support Russia’s interests in Ukraine, as Oleg Valendyuk, the Head of Security Service Department in Kyiv, said at the briefing, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
“Public figure (Nagorny) was supposed to create and develop a political party to promote Russia’s foreign policy interest and to destabilize the situation in Ukraine under the task of FSB (Russian Security Service, - ed.) officers. This party had to run in elections, lobby and promote Russia’s interests, impede the process of Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO, raise a question on adopting Russian a state official language,” Valednyuk noted.
At the briefing, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) showed the videotapes where Nagorny allegedly told about his detention and recruitment by the officers of the Russian Security Service in Moscow.
SBU representatives stated that they managed to reveal Nagorny as the law enforcers got a proposal from a man - he offered around $1,1 million to cease the criminal cases against him in Russia. Nagorny was supposed to be one of the mediators.
Reportedly, on October 4, Nagorny was arrested with a right for bail. On October 8, Ukraine’s Security Service confirmed the detention.
Vesti news agency reported that after the bailment was made, State Judicial Administration issued the documents to release Nagorny from SBU detention facility, but after release, he appeared on the Court of Appeal.
The court session lasted for 15 minutes. The lawyer stated that Nagorny did not examine the case files and asked to postpone the consideration of the case. On October 11, Nagorny was released from the detention facility.
