The judges of District Administrative Court of Kyiv, who made a decision on nationalization of PrivatBank, appealed to the Prosecutor General, State Bureau of Investigation and Chairman of the High Justice Council. They claimed that the representatives of the authorities interfere in their operation and put pressure on them, as the press office of the court reported.
The judges claim that comments on the illegal nationalization of the bank threatens the judicial system and infringe on its independence and impartiality. Therefore, the judges demand to open a probe against President Poroshenko, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, and Chairman of National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smoliy. Besides, they believe that in this way those people put pressure on the court and tried to impede the performance of their official duties.
“The judges are convinced that the actions of the representative of the authority have elements of crimes provided in the Criminal Code of Ukraine as in fact these actions were aimed at usurpation of the judicial branch, setting total control over it to submit to their will, which contradicts the principles of Ukraine’s Constitution,” the message reads.
According to the judges, such statements of the representatives of power might undermine people’s trust in the judicial system. The judges ask the High Justice Council to protect them. They also demand Poroshenko’s impeachment.
