The prisoners’ exchange between Ukraine and Russia will not take place on August 2. They expect the order of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on pardoning as RIA News reported citing Valentyn Rybin, the lawyer of the Ukrainians arrested in Russia.
“It will not take place today (the exchange, - 112.international). Until the law of Zelensky on pardoning is signed, nobody will be transferred. The law is not signed yet,” Rybin said.
On August 30, the Office of the President of Ukraine denied the gossips that the prisoners return to Ukraine. Zelensky’s team reported that the negotiation process on the prisoners’ exchange continues.
Earlier Rybin reported that the date of exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia has been postponed for an indefinite period.
Previously, the media said that in late August, Russia could bring the captured Ukrainian sailors back home.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky added he hoped for first results of the exchange in the near future.
Earlier Spokesperson of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov stated that return of RIA News CEO Kyrylo Vyshynsky to Russia may become the first step for the beginning of the normalization of the relations of Moscow and Kyiv. President’s Office of Zelensky responded to Kremlin statement and offered to release Vyshynsky and Sentsov simultaneously.
