Volodymyr Sleptsov, former mayor of Toretsk arrested for separatism, was to be handed over to the militants today as part of the prisoner exchange but decided not to return to the militants, according to Hromadske.

“When the exchange ended and the journalist went back, Sleptsov went with them. He will continue serving his sentence in Ukraine,” the media says.

Sleptsov is suspected of taking part in organizing and conducting an unlawful referendum on announcing the independence of Toretsk as part of the “DNR”.
