Prisoner escapes from detention in Kyiv

A prisoner escaped custody in Kyiv during the convoying, as the press office of Kyiv police reported.

“Oleksandr Burlaka, convicted earlier, escaped during the convoying. All Kyiv law enforcement squads are involved in searching the perpetrator, the leads are passed over to other regions,” the message says.

It is noted that the escapee was earlier convicted in Lutsk City Court of Volyn region for fraud and document forgery.

“The criminal is a marriage fraudster, he met women and deceived them – he defrauded $60,000 from the family of one of the victims,” the police officers note.

The police representatives added that they are deciding on whether to open a criminal proceeding on escape from detention. Besides, the internal investigation concerning the police officers who were conducting convoying was started.

Later, it was reported that the escaped prisoner was detained.

“Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the police investigators and people who saw the suspect and provided information to the law enforcers, the escapee was detained in Troieshchyna, where he rented an apartment for a day,” the police officers reported.

“Now the perpetrator has to be liable for the escape from detention,” Kyiv National Police representatives added.
