Adviser to the Chair of the Presidential Office and Speaker of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas Oleksiy Arestovych proposes to rename Ukraine. He stated this in an interview with journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk, published on Youtube.

“What would I do? I would change the name of the country. I would name us Rus-Ukraine, with a double name,” Arestovych stated.

The adviser also noted that the Presidential Office is working on a relevant decree.

“Our task is to become Rus-Ukraine. And note that this name was officially announced five times in the last three weeks in Kyiv in the president's speech. If we do that, we can worry less about the rest,” he added.

Arestovych also speaks of the need to take away the brand of “descendants of Rus” from the Russians.

As it was reported earlier, the press secretary of the president of Ukraine Yulia Mendel called defenders of the Ukrainian language “angels with foamy lips” on air of the program “A View from Bankova” on the Dim TV channel

According to Mendel, there is a “Ukrainian Russian language” in Ukraine, which is part of Ukraine's cultural diversity: “Russian is not and was not the property of Russia alone ... And it is time for us to demonopolize the Russian language ourselves and loudly state the existence of “Ukrainian” Russian language in Ukraine.”
