Australia is the first country, where the voting in the Ukrainian presidential elections took place. The elections started at the foreign polling station in Australia on March 30 at 11:00 PM Kyiv time. Director General of the Consular Affairs Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Pohoreltsev stated this, as UNIAN reports.
“The presidential elections will begin at the polling station in Australia on March 30 at 11:00 PM Kyiv time. They will end on April 1 at 6:00 AM Kyiv time in San Francisco,” Pohoreltsev stated.
Ukrainians can vote in 72 countries at 101 polling stations around the world. In particular, 99 polling stations are created in the Ukrainian embassies and consular offices, and two more foreign polling stations are open at the military units, which are located in The Democratic Republic of Congo and Kosovo.
Totally, 420,342 people will vote in the Ukrainian presidential elections abroad on March 31.
The election campaign has officially started on December 31, 2018. 39 candidates take part in the race. The election will most likely come in two rounds this time. The first one is slated for this Sunday, March 31. The second round is expected to take place in late April.
