President Zelensky summons NSDC to discuss coal industry

Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) will consider the problems of coal industry, as President Zelensky said on May 29 at the briefing in Lviv region, where two miners died in an accident at “Lisna” mine, President's Administration reported. 

“A great sorrow happened – we lost two people. We also heard about the problems, about the working conditions of the miners, security conditions. We realize that this is a crucial issue. Therefore, we summon NSDC,” Zelensky said.

President also stressed that the families of the miners who died last night will receive support from the state.

“The decision to allocate $3,500 for each family has been already made,” he said.

Besides, Zelensky noted that he will personally help the families with the housing issues.

According to the press office of the President, the session might be held on May 31.

Landslide at the mine was reported on May 29 at around 4 am. Bodies of two miners were taken out. According to the law enforcers, two residents of Sokolsky region dies at the age of 48 and 22.
