President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy will pay a working visit to Turkey, where the ceremony of the delivery of Tomos will take place, as the press service of the Ukrainian parliament reported.
“The members of the delegation will participate in the ceremony of signing of Tomos by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and prayer at Patriarch’s St. George Cathedral. After the end of the signing procedure of Tomos the statements by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphaniy and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will be made,” the message said.
On January 5, the meeting of Parliament Chairman Parubiy, Ukraine’s President Poroshenko and Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan are planned. Besides, they will meet Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The exact time of the signing of Tomos by Ecumenical Patriarch is not mentioned in the message but it is known that the broadcasting of the signing by “Public broadcasting” is planned for 10:30 am.
On January 6, Petro Poroshenko, Andriy Parubiy and members of the delegation will participate in the ceremony of Tomos delivery, Divine Liturgy right after the end of the ceremony of Tomos delivery and ceremony of water consecrating in the “Golden Horn” gulf. It is known that the broadcasting of the Tomos delivery by Ukraine's public broadcasting is planned for 8:30 am.
It is noted that the members of the delegation will visit the tomb of Ukrainian political figure V.V. Mursky at the Catholic cemetery and will participate in the ceremony of water consecrating at Patriarch’s St. George Cathedral.
We recall, the Unification Assembly in Kyiv elected on December 15 head of the local Orthodox Church in Ukraine, Metropolitan of the former Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate Epifaniy (Dumenko). On the same day, the bishops approved the charter of the new church.
Practically all the hierarchs of the former Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate, the UAOC, and two bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate took part in the Assembly.
The next step for the final formation of the autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine will be to conduct a joint service of Epifaniy with the Ecumenical Patriarch and receive Tomos about the autocephaly.
The Tomos on the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine will be provided on January 6,2019 in Constantinople.
