Portuguese city recognizes Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people

The municipality of Braga, Portugal recognized Holodomor 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, as Golos reports.

“A tragic fate of Ukraine was one of many issues which the deputies of Braga Municipality discussed. With the majority of votes they have recognized Holodomor 193201933 genocide of the Ukrainian people. The official results on the positions of local party cells will be published, but it is known that the communists voted against,” the news agency reports.

“This decision is an important step towards a positive reputation of Ukraine abroad. It is also another contribution of the Ukrainian community to the development of the relationships with the Portugal community and another step towards European integration of our state,” the news agency quotes Vasyl Bundzyuk, who is conducting priest’s activity in Portugal since 2003.

As it was reported, Ohio recognized Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
