Presidential candidates Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky had a quarrel during the talk show at 1+1 TV channel. It appears that they could not agree on the date of the debates at NSC Olimpiysky.
President Poroshenko showed up at 1+1 studio on Thursday night. He offered Zelensky to hold the debates right there and at that moment. Zelensky did not arrive in person, but responded to the phone call from the studio.
Zelensky blamed Poroshenko for calling him to the studio, knowing he was in Paris for the talks with French leader Emmanuel Macron. Poroshenko denied knowing that.
'I'm not interested in your movements, it's just up to you. Today, I asked you for debates. If you are currently beyond Kyiv, I understand that. Your team stated that on the last Sunday when the debates can be held (... ) you've been invited for debates at 2 p.m. Sunday, on the same stadium that you chose', Poroshenko said.
When he asked to have enough patience to listen to him, and asked 'Are you done [talking]?'. Zelensky interrupted Poroshenko, saying: 'I'll be done five years later; you'll be done on April 22'. Thus, he clearly referred to the day after the second round of the election, slated for April 21.
In somewhat rude and nervous manner, Zelensky said that the debates will take place April 19, said goodbye and slammed the phone.
Poroshenko and Zelensky are to cross swords in the second round of the presidential election in Ukraine on April 21.
