Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko still hopes and does everything possible to maintain progress in getting visa-free regime with EU before the summit on November 24. He stated that during the press-conference with Swedish Prime Minister Stephan Lofven, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“We still have a hope and I will do everything possible to achieve this (visa-free regime with EU for Ukrainians),” Poroshenko claimed.
He reminded that Ukraine has fulfilled all the criteria for visa-free regime with EU and leaders of EU member States, European Council and European Commission approved it.
“As of today, there are other questions indeed, which are not connected with Ukraine. For example, visa-free regime suspension mechanism,” – Head of State said.
Poroshenko noted that a decision of the European Parliament is needed. “Some of the biggest European Parliament groups have clearly stated that they support visa-free regime for Ukraine, and presently they just need to find the formula that would let demonstrate progress. It is highly desirable, and I also hope so, that the decision is taken before the Ukraine-EU summit,” – President said.
