Current President Petro Poroshenko is ready for passing the tests along with candidate Volodymyr Zelensky. It is planned to get tests at the nurse's office of Olympic Stadium within the preparation for debates, as 112 Ukraine reported citing Oleg Medvedev, the representative of Poroshenko’s team.
“Within the preparation for debates, Petro Poroshenko waits for Volodymyr Zelensky at 9:00 a.m. at the nurse's office of Olympic Stadium, which was chosen by Zelensky for the holding of the debates as he wants to get all necessary tests, including the alcohol and drugs consumption,” Medvedev said.
He expressed the confidence that it should be “independent expertise of the certified labs”.
“The results provided by the tests are possibly important for the voters; the voters have the right to know it. Volodymyr Olexandrovych, Petro Oleksiyovych waits for you tomorrow. I know that it is necessary to get tested in the morning so the time is 9:00 a.m.,” he said.
On April 3, Zelensky replied to the invitation and put forward his conditions. He wanted to hold debates at Olympic Stadium. Poroshenko’s team said, “the President does not perform at stadiums”. A few hours later Poroshenko changed his mind and agreed to participate in the debates.
Let us recall that during the presidential campaign in 2014, Poroshenko himself refused from participating in the debates with another presidential aspirant Yuliya Tymoshenko, his key competitor. Poroshenko explained his unwillingness by the fact that Ukraine "is in a state of war. All people emphasize that the country needs unity. If we start quarreling now, our rivals would benefit from it."
