The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko declared that he intends to hold a referendum on the country’s entry to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He said this in his interview to the Berliner Morgenpost.
“Four years ago only 15% of Ukrainians supported accession to NATO membership. Today it’s 54%. As a President I’m led by the will of my people and I will hold a referendum on joining the NATO. And if Ukrainians vote for it, I will do everything to gain membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization,” Poroshenko said.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine will take each opportunity in UN to protect against Russia’s aggression, according to Poroshenko. Ukraine takes Presidency in UN Security Council in February.
