Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko expressed support of the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, as he said during the event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the creation of the Security Service (SBU), broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko supported Yovanovitch in the the view of the incident involving the alleged “not to prosecute” list to Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko.
Poroshenko noted that Yovanovitch has an important role in “development of the Ukrainian-American relationships”.
“I want to note an important role of the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch in the development of the Ukrainian-American relationships. I stress that as the U.S. and the President Donald Trump's representative, she has my full support,” Petro Poroshenko said.
Ealier, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch handled him a 'do-not-prosecute list'.
The U.S. Department of State called Lutsenko’s statement “a blatant falsification”. The representatives of the establishments added that they do not provide assistance to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Office, yet earlier they “tried to support the fundamental reform of the judicial system, including Prosecutor General Office.”
