Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine stands for the decrease of the grounds for the issuance of the Ukrainian citizenship. He claimed this during the session of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) as 112 Ukraine reported.

‘We should harsher check the grounds during the process of obtaining the citizenship. We should narrow the circle of the persons who possess the rights to become the citizens of the territorial origin’, he claimed.

The president noted that the NSDC will consider the proper legislative initiatives during the session on March 1.

‘Now I want to emphasize that the Ukrainian passport is one of the best passports in the world and it should not be issued to somebody without legal ground and even on the corruption basis when the decision of the court or the head of the housing and public services is bought’, Poroshenko added.

As we reported the State Migration Service of Ukraine began the check the legality of the provision of the Ukrainian citizenship to the foreigners.
