The President's Administration did not comment on the aim of the trip

Ukraine's Presidental Administration

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, was on the territory of the European Union with a private visit, as the President’s Administration informed, Pravda reports.

“From July 29 till August 5, 2018 Petro Poroshenko was in the European Union with a private trip to have several meetings,” the Administration informs.

In addition, the President paid for the trip from his own account.

“In compliance with the article of the Law of Ukraine on prevention and counterwork legalization (laundering) of the proceeds received in an illegal way, funding of terrorism and spreading of mass destruction weapons, not a penny from the state budget was spent for this trip. Petro Poroshenko paid all the expenses from his own account,” the Administration says.

The press office also stressed that the message about the President’s staying in Spain or the meetings with well-known Ukrainians do not comply with the reality.

Yet, the representatives of the Administration did not comment on the aim of the trip and the exact place Poroshenko went to. The President is in Ukraine now.

Earlier, the journalists published an investigation which said that the President went to the Maldives with his family in January this year. According to the information, the President allegedly went abroad under another name and spent around $500 thousand for the trip. Later, the President’s Administration confirmed the fact that Poroshenko went abroad.
