President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the Russia-Belarus military exercise West-2017 pose a threat to Ukraine,  according to the official website of the president.

“We pay great attention to this training. We see possible threats, inter alia, for Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” Poroshenko noted.

According to the president, this issue was discussed during the visit of president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Kyiv.

“We received assurances that there will be no threat from the territory of Belarus, neither now, nor in future. I hope that this word of honour will be kept. There are no reasons to call it into question,” he said.

The president added that Ukraine would monitor that all the equipment is withdrawn after the drills end.
