President Petro Poroshenko is ready to come to NSC Olympiysky to debate with presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky on April 19 but under several conditions. The spokesperson of Poroshenko’s HQ Oleg Medviediev states this, as 5 TV Channel reports.
According to Medvedev, the President is ready to hold the second debates on NSC Olympiysky, if its time does not coincide with the time of the official debates on the National Television Company of Ukraine.
“If the debates take place, and the time of the debates do not violate the law, it is possible to come. However, the debates are scheduled for the time, when Poroshenko plans to be on the National Television Company, according to the legislature. Thus, as the law-abiding citizen, Poroshenko will go to the debates on the National Television, and according to the legislature, debates should take place on National Television on April 19, so no presidential candidate should ignore the rule,” the spokesperson outlined.
On April 3, Zelensky replied to Poroshenko's invitation to participate in debates and put forward his conditions. He wanted to hold debates at Olympiysky Stadium. Poroshenko’s team said, “the President does not perform at stadiums”. A few hours later Poroshenko changed his mind and agreed to participate in the debates.
On April 7, Poroshenko stated that he waits for Volodymyr Zelensky on April 14 at Olympiysky Stadium.
In his turn, Zelensky reported that he wants to hold the debates with Poroshenko on April 19 at Olympiysky Stadium.
On April 10, Olympiysky Stadium reported that it got two applications for holding debates from two presidential candidates Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko.
