Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko laid flowers at Taras Shevchenko’s Monument in Warsaw. This was reported by the press service of the President. He also talked to the representatives of NGOs.

"Poroshenko congratulated Polish Ukrainian with 25th anniversary of the referendum on Ukraine's independence and establishment of diplomatic relations between independent Ukraine and Poland - the first country to recognize the independence of the Ukrainian state," a statement said.

The President informed the representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora on the results of today's Ukrainian-Polish agreement. He noted that the Ukrainian community in Poland should be supported by Ukrainian state, and said that he has given such instructions to the Government.

After the meeting, the parties jointly performed the national anthem of Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that Poroshenko is visiting Poland today, on December 2. Ukraine’s President and the first lady will meet Polish leaders, discuss wide variety of political issues.
