President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the "cyborg" released from militants’ captivity, paratrooper of the 80th airmobile brigade Taras Kolodiy and his mother Galyna Myroslavivna. This was reported by the press service of the Presidential Administration.
The Head of State thanked soldier for the indomitable character, heroism and loyalty to the state. "Today is really a holiday, Saint Nicholas is doing all sorts of miracles. I want to thank you, because for over almost two long years you have shown who the real Ukrainian soldier is," he said.
The President said: "We thank you for your courage, firmness, Ukrainian position and patriotism. Taras, welcome home."
Poroshenko said that a lot of people were waiting and working on the release of Taras Kolodiy, and now officials, volunteers, representatives of the churches continue to do everything possible for the release of other prisoners.
In turn, Taras Kolodiy expressed gratitude for his liberation. He talked about staying in captivity. "I want to say thanks to the church who helped release me from captivity, SBU, to you, Mr. President, my mother and all the volunteers who took part in it," he said.
Mother of Taras Kolodiy also thanked all those who joined the liberation. "This is a great gift to Nikolay (St. Nicholas Day, - Ed.) and Christmas holidays," she added.
The President also said that he had instructed to provide necessary medical examination for the "cyborg" in the hospital of the State Administration. "I wonder your opinion, what are you gonna do in the future? I spoke with the Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff. They are waiting for you, you are really the person who has become a legend." Poroshenko said.
In addition, at a press briefing of Irina Lutsenko, broadcast by "112 Ukraine" TV channel, answering the question whether somebody tried to recruit him, replied: "No, it never happened."
"Cyborg" said that he was kept in the basement, similar to the detention center.
