Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko met with the US Senator Richard Durbin and the Congressman Michael Quigley. Poroshenko discussed the issue of strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and America, as well as the question of Russian aggression.
This was reported by the press service of the Presidential Administration.
Poroshenko informed his interlocutors in detail about the escalation of the situation in Donbas, the continuing provocations and violation by Russian militants of the ceasefire regime.
During the meeting, the necessity was emphasized to keep and strengthen international sanctions against Russia until full implementation of Minsk agreements, restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea, the report says.
It is reported that the interlocutors paid special attention to the questions of reforms realization in Ukraine and US further assistance in this process.
The head of the state thanked both houses of the US Congress for a firm and consistent bipartisan support for Ukraine, reported AP press service.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine became one of the main topics during Munich Security Conference, according to Poroshenko. "We received a strong message of international support towards Ukraine," he stressed.
