The parties discussed reforms in Ukraine, Eastern Partnership Summit, situation in Donbas and Crimea

President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, as the President’s website informs. 

The EU Commissioner noted the dynamics of reforms in Ukraine over the recent period and confirmed the EU’s willingness to continue its comprehensive support on the path of internal transformations aimed at further rapprochement with the EU.

The parties exchanged views on the preparation to the Eastern Partnership Summit that will be held on November 24 in Brussels.

The Head of State informed Johannes Hahn on the development of the security situation in Donbas and drew attention to a significant deterioration of the human rights situation on the occupied Crimean peninsula.

The President thanked the EU for its unwavering support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, the evidence of which was the voting in the Third Committee for the UN GA draft resolution on human rights violations in Crimea.

As we reported earlier today, President Poroshenko held a meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell.
