Poroshenko, Lithuanian Prime Minister discuss trade cooperation

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Prime Minister of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis during the meeting in Vilnius discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. This was reported on the official website of the president.

"The President positively assessed the growth of interest of Lithuanian business circles representatives in Ukraine and the interest of Ukraine in attracting new Lithuanian investments," the message says.

The parties also considered issues of cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in energy security and prospects for the implementation of relevant joint projects.

"During the meeting, bilateral Memorandum on cooperation in the field of energy was concluded, and Ukraine's decision to join NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence located in Vilnius was positively remarked," the report says.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian side for the continued support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the clear position of Lithuania on the Crimea. He thanked Lithuania for its assistance in strengthening Ukraine's defense capability, the treatment of Ukrainian soldiers, humanitarian and technical assistance.

As it was reported earlier the representatives of Ukraine and Lithuania with the presence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite signed the number of the documents on the bilateral cooperation.

Particularly, the sides signed the protocol of the 10th session of the Council of the Presidents.

The Protocol welcomes the full entry into force of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on September 1, 2017, the positive results of the temporary implementation of the free trade area, the entry into force of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, the results of the fifth Eastern Partnership Summit, as well as confirms the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense and security, energy, transport and logistics, education, science and culture, as well as youth policy and youth exchange.
