President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held the phone talk with Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission during which they discussed the preparation to the 20th Ukraine-EU summit that will take place on July 9 in Brussels as the press service of the Ukrainian leader reported.
Poroshenko noted the progress in the implementation of the reforms, including the sphere of the anti-corruption policy in the context of the beginning of the Supreme Anti-corruption court’s creation.
The President of the European Commission confirmed the readiness of the EU to continue the full support of Ukraine in the introduction of the reforms and implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
The leaders also discussed the provision of the energy safety to Ukraine and the EU due to the threat of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline’s construction.
The sides noted the urgent need of the early release of the Ukrainian political prisoners by Kremlin.
As we reported the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the urgent release of Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian political prisoners. 455 MPs supported the resolution, while 106 were against.
