President Petro Poroshenko ordered to prepare a draft of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, which will consolidate Ukraine's aspiration to join NATO. He said this in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region during the briefing, on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"We emphasize that we will insist on adopting the NATO Membership Action Plan for Ukraine, and I have already issued an order to prepare a draft amendment to the Constitution of Ukraine that at the level of the constitutional law will consolidate our aspiration to join NATO and join the EU," he said.
As it was reported earlier the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes NATO’s statement of 9 March 2018 that “four partner countries have declared their aspirations to NATO membership: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia and Ukraine.” This was reported on the website of the congress. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko responded to NATO’s statement by declaring that: "I welcome the important, long-awaited and logical decision of NATO to increase Ukraine's ambitions regarding the Alliance."
The UWC calls on all NATO member states to proceed with granting Ukraine a NATO Membership Action Plan.
