Poroshenko establishes Police Day in Ukraine on July 4

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine established the Day of Police in Ukraine on July 4. He reported this during the handing of the water and road vehicles certificates to the National Police of Ukraine.

'I consulted the minister and have signed the order today on the establishment of a new professional holiday – Ukraine's Police Day on July 4. It is said that the shift is from August 4 to July 4 but it is a date of the foundation of the new police', he said.

The president noted that today 15, 500 young motivated officers serve in the police.

'Today 15, 500 young motivated officers serve in the police and their main aim is to help and protect people, peace, and order at the streets of the Ukrainian cities, villages and towns', Poroshenko noted.

He reminded that the decision to begin the global changes in the law enforcement system was made three years ago.

'We finally say goodbye to the Soviet militia – the new Ukrainian police is forming', he said.
