Poroshenko establishes celebration of Foreign Intelligence Service Day on January 24

President Petro Poroshenko has established the Day of Foreign Intelligence Service and it will be celebrated annually in Ukraine on January 24 as the order #381 dated November 22 reported.

“I order to establish the Day of Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and to celebrate it annually on January 24,” the document said.

It is added that the holiday is established, “taking into account the significant contribution of the officers of the intelligence bodies of Ukraine to the provision of the security of the national interests of the country from the external threats and the defense of the lives, health of its citizens and objects of the state property outside the state, strengthening of its defense capacity to revive the national intelligence identity and beginning of the modern traditions of the honoring of the victories of the foreign intelligence of Ukraine.”

The order comes into force since the day it was published.

On October 14, Ukraine celebrated the Day of the Defender of Ukraine on the day of Pokrova. The holiday was introduced "to honor the courage and heroism of the defenders of independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, military traditions and victories of the Ukrainian people."
