The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko charged the governors of the settlements where the relatives of Russia-captured sailors and local chairmen of the regionalal state administration to provide necessary assistance to the families of the captured sailors, as he said at the meeting on enhancement of country’s defence capacity, 112 Ukraine reported.
“For every governor of the settlements where the relatives of the sailors live, this must be a responsibility of the governor, in particular, for the chairman of the regional state administration to provide support and care for the families. I appeal to the heads of the regional state administrations where their families live. In concerns Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv. I want this question to be monitored,” the Head of the state said.
Earlier, the Defence Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak stated that he signed a decree on providing material assistance in the amount of $1,700 for every Ukraine’s Navy servicemen who carried out a mission in Kerch Strait and were taken captive by Russians on November 25, 2018.
Poltorak also informed that on November 28, the representatives of Ukraine’s Naval Forces Command had a meeting with the families of the war prisoners on their rights and to decide on issues.
As it was reported, on November 27-28, Russia-controlled “court” in Crimea arrested all the Ukrainian sailors including the injured ones for 60 days. They are accused of illegal crossing of the Russian border.
Today, on November 30, it was reported that Russia intended to transfer some of the prisoners to Lefortovo prison. Earlier, Akhtem Chyigoz, the Deputy Head of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, said that the sailors were taken to a prison in occupied Simferopol.
