President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko decided to convene a military cabinet because of the fire at military depots in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region. This was announced on Facebook page of Poroshenko.

"I decided to convene a military cabinet with the participation of the Prime Minister, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Defense Minister, Chief of the General Staff, head of the Security Service, and leadership of the National Police, National Guard and Emergency Service immediately after their return from Vinnytsia," the message says.

As it was reported earlier, the fire on the ammunition depots in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, central Ukraine, started at about 9 p m. on September 26.

According to the State Emergency Service the scale of the fire was impossible to evaluate (as of 11:30 p.m., Sept. 26). All the services including their administrators were on high alert. Policemen from Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Kmelnitsk regions were alarmed as well.

Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman arrived at Vinnytsya. The Prime Minister announced that various versions of the reasons of the fire in Kalynivka are being developed now, however apparently it is the question of external factors.

There were no chemical substances stored in Kalynivka arsenal, explosions are spotted on the tank ammunition sites only, according to Bohdan Senyk, the head of the public affairs division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is known that explosions and fire are at the 48th arsenal - the storage base for ammunition of Armed Forces in Vinnytsia region, a few kilometers from Kalynivka. According to the data available in open sources, 188,000 tons of ammunition is stored in the arsenal. The area of the arsenal is about 60 hectares. Among the ammunition stored in the arsenal there are rockets Smerch, Hurricane and Grad. According to journalist Yury Butusov, the storage standards in the arsenal are exceeded by several times.

In 2005, on the basis of the 48th arsenal, it was considered to create a regional Western center for the elimination of weapons, but local authorities actively opposed the establishment of such a center and it was never established. However, there were reports that obsolete ammunition from the Khmelnytsky and Lviv regions was being brought to the arsenal.
