President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that the construction of the power units #3 and #4 of Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant, plant for production of nuclear fuel, reduction of the fuel’s share from Russia and interconnected grids with the EU are the priority tasks in the energy sphere as Interfax-Ukraine reported.

The president noted that at the moment, the diversification process of the nuclear fuel continues without losses in quality and he emphasized that the third energy unit of the South-Ukraine nuclear power plant became the first one in 2018 with the use of the fuel of American Company Westinghouse.

“The next strategic step in the supplies of fuel is the provision of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants with the nuclear fuel produced in Ukraine. I am sure that it is very ambitious and timely task as the issue is about the creation of our own plant for the production of nuclear fuel,” the president noted.
