The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko awarded the leader of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev the Order of Liberty, as the press office of the President reports.

“Poroshenko participated in celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Crimean Tatars leader, Ukraine’s President Commissioner Mustafa Dzhemilev,” the message says.

Poroshenko rewarded Dzhemilev the Order of Liberty in appreciation of his significant role in returning of Crimea and releasing the Kremlin’s prisoners.

“Mustafa Dzhemilev is a hero of the Crimean Tatars and the Ukrainian nation. His contribution in asserting the values of democracy and freedom is inappreciable,” Poroshenko noted.

The Order of Liberty is a state award for outstanding and particular merits of the citizens of Ukraine to asserting the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
