Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko met with the President of the Austrian National Council Wolfgang Sobotka. He raised the issue of the release of the Ukrainian sailors and navy personnel illegally kept in Russia’s jails, as the President’s Administration reported.
Poroshenko noted Austria’s firm position during its representation in the EU Council concerning prolongation of anti-Russian sanctions as a reaction to Moscow’s block of a peaceful process in Donbas, continuous occupation of the Crimean peninsula and another aggressive attack in the Kerch Strait.
The Head of Ukraine also stressed Austria’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in the regions released from Russia's occupation troops.
Besides, the parties have expressed mutual interest in the enhancement of the inter-parliamentary ties and discussed the risks for the energy security of the EU, connected with Nord Stream 2.
As it was reported, within the meeting with the ministers Sven Mikser from Estonia, Saulius Skvernelis from Lithuania and Jacek Czaputowicz from Poland Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko noted the need to enhance a consolidated pressure upon Russia.
