Stepanov might be linked with businessmen from Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s (ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine – February, 2014 – April, 2016, - ed.) entourage. Sergey Parashchenko is believed to be appointed to this position in order to strengthen Poroshenko's position in Odesa region, as in the first round of the presidential elections Poroshenko has demonstrated quite modest results in Odesa region.
