President Petro Poroshenko signed a Decree on the appointment of Roman Truba Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, according to the President’s press service.

“I hope that a competitive selection of investigators will also ensure high professionalism, high transparency, high independence of this body and each investigator. So that we can assert that this is an absolutely new format of the Ukrainian law enforcement system,” President Poroshenko said.

“I sincerely wish that this reform, which I initiated, will have a key indicator - people's confidence. For those who have committed crimes to be punished. For us not to have any political, economic or other reasons for bringing or closing the case. For these cases into the new judicial system to bring criminals to jail, and an honest person to be able to count on the fact that his rights will be protected,” the President added.

In his turn, the newly appointed Director of the State Bureau of Investigation emphasized: “It is a great honor and confidence for me to lead this newly established law enforcement body”. He added that it is a great challenge to restore Ukrainians’ trust in the law enforcement system.
