The testing of new naval missile “Neptun” will be started in 2019 in Ukraine as 112 Ukraine reported citing President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“We will finish the development and begin the state testing of the ground-based cruise missile systems for the attack of the sea and coastal goals on the project “Neptun”,” he said.
Moreover, Poroshenko announced the beginning of the supplies of “Vilkha” missiles to the Armed Forces.
“One more decision of today’s agenda. On the results, almost 3,000 models of weapons and missile and rocket weaponry were supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2018. It concerns the missiles made on the project “Vilkha” with increased defeating range. We already talk about their mass production and beginning of their supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Poroshenko stated.
Besides, the president reported that the creation of the number of the latest domestic models of the weaponry developed in accordance with the NATO standards is at the final stage. The issue is about a self-propelled howitzer “Bohdana” and 155 mm artillery ammunition, guided munitions “Vaza”, two calibers mortar launcher, unmanned reconnaissance strike complex “Sokil”, man-portable air defense system “Kolibri”, intelligence devices, artillery management complexes.
“We plan to purchase 6,000 models of the weaponry for the ground forces. The issue is about the mortar launchers, man-portable air defense systems, sniper weaponry and anti-sniper complexes, ammunition, night shooting devices, thermographic cameras, grenade launchers, artillery shells, missiles, more than thousand of the armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, ambulances and so on. Our Air Force will get the dozens of the modernized aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aviation complexes,” the president noted.
“The missile boat “Lan” aims for the fleet; the small armored artillery boats, landing craft, and necessary for us complexes and means of the radio location are purchased. Moreover, the Armed Force of Ukraine will get 10,000 items of the modern means of communication,” Poroshenko added.
Earlier Neptune, the new anti-ship missile, was successfully tested in Odesa region, southern Ukraine.
