President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation, they discussed situation in Donbas, sanctions against the Russian Federation and Ukraine and providing visa-free regime for Ukraine with the EU. It was reported by the presidential press service.

According to the report, the leaders of Ukraine and Germany expressed concern due to the constant ceasefire violations by the Russian militants. The President also noted the inadmissibility of Russia blocking the process of Ukrainian hostages’ liberation.

Poroshenko also expressed hope for an early decision on the next renewal of the EU sanctions against Russia.

Merkel assured that will facilitate early completion of the procedure for granting a visa-free regime for Ukrainians, as well as finding a compromise for the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

The interlocutors also discussed the problems of energy security of Ukraine and the EU.

As it was reported earlier, Grybauskaite met with Poroshenko in Kyiv.
