Biometric passports were received by more than 3 million people in Ukraine, 34 countries are to open borders for Ukrainian citizens. This was reported by Ukrainian President during the press conference, broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
Poroshenko also emphasized the need to reduce the travel costs for Ukrainians due to the approval of visa-free regime.
"Another important task is to make traveling expenses for the most Ukrainians cheaper, so that more of our citizens could travel to the European countries. Ukrainian Railways company is establishing railway connection with the EU countries. Our Ministry of Transportation and Communication allows a number of lowcosters to Ukrainian market, they should provide Ukrainian people with relatively affordable and accessible flights," president said.
According to him, competitiveness already made domestic companies lower prices for tickets to Europe.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is holding press conference for the first time since June 3, 2016. Almost 200 media representatives were accredited for the event.
The announced subject of the press conference is Europe Day and granting of visa-free regime for Ukraine. Poroshenko is to visit Brussels next week to participate in signing ceremony of the according act. Ukrainian people will be able to travel to European countries without visas starting from June 11.
