The population census, which is planned in Ukraine for 2023, will cost approximately 6 billion hryvnias (~$219,875,460.00) as the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) reported.

Scientists note that it depends on what the equipment, technological scheme, and salary level will be in one and a half to two years.

“The population census is a big and responsible job, the most difficult one in the statistics bodies. Perhaps even on a national scale. It can even be equated with elections or referendums. Why? Because almost the entire population of Ukraine is involved. In 2001, there were 250 people in rural areas; and 350 people in urban areas per enumerator. This is due to the fact that in rural areas there are large distances between buildings. In total, a little less than 250,000 census takers were involved. Can you imagine how many people it is? They had to be taught how to work. They were recruited in a month or two, perhaps three. But they need to be prepared for the appropriate work,” the NAS explained.

On December 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Ukraine will conduct the digital census together with Apple company in February 2023.

As we reported, in September, Zelensky met with Tim Cook, the Apple's CEO and discussed cooperation in terms of holding the census. Head of the Ministry for Digitalization Mykhailo Fedorov explained that Apple provided the U.S. goverment with necessary hardware, loaning it for several weeks and saving budget funds.

Earlier, we reported that Ukraine is going to conduct the census in 2023. The budgetary committee of the Ukrainian Parliament assigned three million dollars for that matter, claiming the census will be a highly technological one.
