Pope Francis urges Azerbaijan and Armenia to resolve the conflict through dialogue and negotiations. It is reported by Vatican News.

Pope also asked the crowd to pray in silence, together with him, for peace in the region.

As it was reported earlier, Armenia and Azerbaijan resumed hostilities in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. On September 27, the command of the Azerbaijani army decided to launch a counter-offensive operation against the armed forces of Armenia along the entire front in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed the active phase of hostilities and specified that the Azerbaijani side launched missile strikes along the entire line of contact, as well as at peaceful settlements, including Stepanakert, the capital of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
