On Sunday, April 16, Pope Francis gave a short Easter speech Urbi et Orbi, which he ended with blessing of Ukraine. The text of pontiff’s message is provided by RadioVaticana.

"Let the Good Shepherd come to the aid of Ukraine, still beset by conflict and bloodshed," he said, according to ABS-CBN news agency.

With these words Pontiff ended his Easter speech, in which he congratulated believers on the occasion, also expressed hope that Jesus might "sustain the efforts of all those actively engaged in bringing comfort and relief to the civil population in Syria, prey to a war that continues to sow horror and death", recalled Christians in Sudan, Somalia and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Pope Francis urged world leaders to hear the message of peace as they contend with "the complex and often dramatic situations of today’s world," and to work "to prevent the spread of conflicts and to put a halt to the arms trade."

He also expressed support for disadvantaged refugees and those who had to leave their homes due to armed conflicts and terrorist acts.
