Political prisoner Ivan Yatskin, who is being held in prison #1 in Simferopol, has exacerbated chronic leg diseases - inflammation of blood vessels has led to the formation of trophic ulcers. This was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova.
"Ivan Yatskin, illegally convicted by a court under control of the occupant country on the Crimean peninsula needs urgent professional medical examination and treatment. He has exacerbated chronic leg diseases - inflammation of blood vessels led to trophic ulcers. He constantly suffers from unbearable headaches, " the Ombudsman said.
According to her, the administration of the prison of Simferopol city, where Yatskin is being held, ignores his appeals for medical care. Denisova noted that this was a gross violation of human rights and urged to provide necessary medical care for the political prisoner.
"The administration's inaction is a gross violation of Articles 2 and 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 22 of the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners. The ECtHR has repeatedly emphasized that failure to provide necessary medical care was torture. I appeal to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tetyana Moskalkova with a demand to take appropriate measures immediately and to provide full emergency medical care to Ivan Yatskin immediately," Denisova wrote.
Earlier, Denisova informed that Ukrainian political prisoner held in Donetsk was in critical condition.
