Defense Minister of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak expressed the hope that newly elected president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will make Ukraine closer to Europe and NATO as Polske Radio reported.
“The elected president got really strong mandate; hope that this support will be used for the approach of Ukraine to the European Union and NATO,” Blaszczak said.
He noted that such statements were made and Poland is pleased that they were made by the newly elected president.
Earlier Polish President Andrzej Duda congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky on the victory at the presidential race and invited him to Poland.
The second round of the elections of the President of Ukraine took place on April 21. Volodymyr Zelensky has won with 73,22% of votes, and current President Poroshenko gets 24,45%.
Besides, Central Election Commission processed 100% of the protocols at abroad election district: Petro Poroshenko gained 54,74% of the votes, while Zelensky got 43,78%.
