The National Police have withdrawn the protection from seven candidates, while Volodymyr Zelensky and Yulia Tymoshenko are still guarded as Ukrainian News reported citing Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
“Yes (we withdrew the protection from all), except Tymoshenko and Zelensky. Until the end of the calculation. Probably, only Zelensky will be protected,” he said.
It is noted that the minister did not specify the names of the candidates from whom the guard was withdrawn.
According to the exit polls, Zelensky is the leader of the first round of presidential elections, while current president Poroshenko occupies the second place.
The Central Election Commission began protocol handling of the presidential elections in Ukraine.
As of 3 p.m., April 1, Volodymyr Zelensky enters the second tour of the elections with 30,41% of votes, while Petro Poroshenko occupies the second place with 16,03%.
The voters’ turnout in Ukraine made 63,45% and 62,71% as of 8:00 p.m., March 31.
