The National Police will send the additional units to the eastern regions of Ukraine during the holding of the elections to prevent the provocations as there is information about the possible activity of the subversive groups, as 112 Ukraine reported citing Advisor of Interior Minister Ivan Stoiko.
“Concerning the east of Ukraine, Joint Forces Operation, we work there along with the Central Election Commission on which polling stations to work there. The border guards work clearly there because there are provocative moments; we understand that the subversive groups can be there. I want to assure that according to the calculations, we do not have enough forces in a few regions. We will send the additional forces to particular regions, including the east of Ukraine, where the Joint Forces Operation takes place,” Stoiko noted.
According to him, all the territories will be provided with the law enforcers and additional security forces.
The election campaign has officially started on December 31, 2018. Registration of the candidates would last until February 4, 2019, and on February 9, the final list of presidential candidates will appear. The candidates would be able to withdraw his candidacy until March 7, 2019.
Central Election Commission of Ukraine closed all polling station in Russia, particularly, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk.
On February 7, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine prohibited observers from the Russian Federation to participate in the election process in Ukraine.
