Police starts investigation of explosion in Kyiv downtown

Nobody was hurt due to the explosion

The Metropolitan Police initiated an investigation of the explosion in the center of Kyiv on Volodymyrska street. This was reported by the head of the communications department of the National Police in Kyiv Oksana Blyshchyk in Facebook.

Now the police is investigating the circumstances of the incident, according to her.

“Criminal proceedings were opened on preliminary qualification under part 2 Article 194 (deliberate destruction or damage of property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment,” she wrote.

An explosion occurred on Volodymyrska street around midnight, Blyshchyk said. Windows and partially facade of the building were damaged by the explosion wave.

The police say that the unknown threw near the office an object that exploded.

Investigative and operational group and bomb-disposal expert worked at the scene. During the examination of the territory, they found deformed fragments of the explosive device that were sent for expertise.

Nobody was hurt in the explosion.

“Police officers worked on the territory to detect CCTV cameras. Operative-investigative measures are being carried out to identify those involved in the offense,” she added.

Earlier it was reported that an explosion occurs in Kyiv downtown at night. Law enforcers work at the scene, there is no information on victims.
