Police hold internal investigation on patrol involvement in attack at Antonov’s aircraft designer

The results of the investigation will be revealed to the interested persons

The Patrol Police Department of Ukraine has begun the internal investigation due to the information on the beating of aircraft designer of “Antonov” State Enterprise Viktor Kovalsky by patrol police officer of Kyiv along with the civilians. The police urge not to draw conclusions prematurely as it reported on Facebook.

“We officially report that the Patrol Police Department initiated the internal investigation due to the incident and check the legality of the actions of the patrol police officer in this situation,” the message said.

The department noted that it will additionally reveal the results of the internal investigation to the interested persons.

“We ask not to draw conclusions prematurely and not to spread the unverified information,” the police added.

As we reported,Viktor Kovalsky, the 81-year-old famous aircraft designer, who created An-225 Mriya was beaten up in Kyiv.  The three unknowns attacked him and began to kick him. Two police officers, who arrived to the site later, also used force against Kovalsky as the victim reported to the journalists. The police did not confirm the involvement of the officers in the beating; however, it stated that the officers of the patrol police worked at the site.

Later two criminal cases were opened due to the attack at Kovalsky, who works for the state company “Antonov”.
