Police revealed a criminal organization in the occupied Crimea, which was dealing with recruitment and illegal transferring of Ukrainians through the border, as the press office of the National Police reported.

“Crimean police officer along with the representatives of the other law enforcement agencies exposed a criminal organization on recruitment and illegal transferring of Ukrainians through the border,” the message reads.

As it was reported, recruited Ukrainians were attracted to the transport of irregular migrants from the countries of South-West Asia to Western Europe through the Mediterranean Sea.

The law enforcement defined that the perpetrators were illegally transferring recruited Ukrainians though the state border, in particular, through closed checkpoints on the temporarily occupied territories of the autonomy to the Republic of Turkey.

As a result, recruited people were mostly detained in Greece and Italy. For now, 250 Ukrainians who became victims of criminal acts of the recruiters serve their sentences in Western Europe.

Criminal proceeding under the articles on “human trafficking or other illegal unlawful transactions concerning human transmission” and “illegal human transmission through Ukraine’s state border”.

The perpetrators face criminal liability in a form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with seizure of property.
