Police did not find a corpus delicti in racist insults against the parliamentarian

Police have closed a criminal case about racist insults against Olympic champion and Verkhovna Rada deputy Zhan Beleniuk. This was stated in the press service of the police, RBC-Ukraine reported.

The police reported that the case was opened by the Pechersk Police Department on August 13 under Art. 161 (violation of equality of citizens depending on their racial affiliation) of the Criminal Code.

“On August 25, 2021, in the specified criminal proceedings the decision on its closing on the basis of p. 2 par. 1 Art. 284 of the Criminal procedure code is made,” National police answers.

According to p. 2 of par. 1 Art. 284, investigators did not find a criminal offense in the conflict.

The police also emphasize that as of September 7, the decision to close the case had not been overturned by either the prosecutor's office or the court.

As it was reported earlier, on August 13 the people's deputy Zhan Beleniuk reported on his page on Facebook that in the Pechersky area of ​​Kyiv the group of unknown young people tried to provoke conflict, shouting offensive phrases, such as: “What a Black Monkey knows about patriotism?!” and “Go to Africa!”.

Police have launched an investigation into the attack.
