The Central Investigation Department of the National Police launched a pre-trial investigation on the basis of data collected by the journalists of the Schemes program about the fake sponsors of the Batkivshchyna party. This was announced by the speaker of the National Police Yaroslav Trakalo, reports Radio Liberty.
Reportedly, the journalists found that some of the citizens who, according to the official financial reports of the party allegedly transferred money to its fund, did not really know about it. The data were added into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 4 of Art. 159-1 - Violation of the order of financing of a political party and election campaigning, committed by a group of persons on prior agreement.
"The investigation was opened after publishing of the data that may indicate a violation of the procedure for financing a political party or election campaigning. In particular, this is the data shown in the Schemes investigative program on Radio Liberty. We also expect from the authors of the material responsible attitude towards their procedural obligations in the framework of the criminal investigation, namely that they will cooperate with the investigation and provide the materials and evidence necessary for the investigation, "said Trakalo.
Earlier in the Schemes program, it was reported that part of the citizens who appear in the reports of the Batkivshchyna party as sponsors say that they have never made contributions to the party. In addition, according to the party’s report, in 2018 UAH 157,7 million of contributions were received in its accounts, of which 144,6 million came from individuals. At the same time, from January to May there was not a single contribution, and since May 22 hundreds of people made contributions at the same time.
All this may indicate manipulations with the election fund.
